The good news is the long cord enables me to vacuum the entire first floor (1165 square feet) of my house with the cord plugged into one central outlet. The bad news is the plug easily falls out of the outlet causing me to walk back and forth to the wall outlet to plug it back in.
The vacuum is light, easily glides over carpeting and picks up well on both bare floors and carpeting. There is no musty smell or fine dust emenating from the collection bag. The noise level is much lower than my previous vacuum. It would be nice if it were able to fit under chairs and some footed tables, but I am willing to move those pieces when need be to vacuum under them.
I am pleased with the performance of the upright vacuum and would recommend it to others for purchase. I have not used the canister, but my husband has and he seems to be satisfied with the results. I believe the value we received is well worth the price we paid for the products.

The Hoover Platinum Lightweight Upright removes more dirt in one pass than other uprights. The lightweight design (less than 12 lbs) is easy to maneuver and transport upstairs or from room to room. With direct air flow technology and Hoover's patented Windtunnel Technology, it makes it easy to remove even hidden dirt. The HEPA filter bag traps 99.97% of dirt, dust, and pollens for better indoor air quality. There is even a bag check indicator to tell you when to change the bag. The quick release, self-sealing bag prevents dirt puffs from escaping while changing the bag. It comes with illuminated in-handle controls which allow you to control the on/off power switch and the ability to switch between high and low speeds with the touch of a finger. The upright comes with a portable canister and tools. The canister has a detachable shoulder strap, dusting/furniture brush, crevice tool, and bare floor brush.
