i was expecting something that would hold us over after our upright vacuum gave out. i'm pleasantly surprised at how well this very lightweight vacuum works. i have a toddler so i vacuum two good sized, carpeted rooms about twice a week and this works great. of course it doesn't do as well as a high amp upright but i don't feel rushed to replace the upright now. and yes it is a bit loud, but it's a vacuum, i don't expect them to be quiet. for the price it's a very good buy.
